ABOUT ALEX

Alex is a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher from Vancouver, BC. Starting dance at a young age, she trained in North Vancouver dancing competitively with her dance team and completing her RAD vocational exams. She was also fortunate enough to attend summer intensives around the world including: The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Joffrey NYC Jazz, World Dance Movement Italy and more. 

 

After graduation, Alex attended Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson) in Toronto. After four years, she received her BFA in Performance Dance with honours and was awarded the 'Nadia Potts Heart and Soul Award' and scholarship. Alex is professionally trained in Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet & Modern. 

 

Alex is passionate about teaching. She has 10+ years experience teaching students aged 2.5yrs - 55yrs+ of all abilities and styles!

 

As an enthusiastic choreographer, Alex has won choreography awards at competitions such as Shine Dance Festival, Peak International and Rhythm Dance Festival. In 2014, Alex completed her first full-length Contemporary piece “Falling Stars” for the New Voices Festival in Toronto. 

In 2016, Alex moved to London, UK for a year abroad. Working as a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer, Alex is grateful for the new experiences and personal growth this trip allowed.

Now back in Vancouver, Alex transitioned to become an elementary school teacher and received her BEd from UBC. Alex loves teaching and continues to nurture her passion of dance with her Grade 5 students. 

Alex is now focusing on her wedding dance choreography business. Starting out as a favour for her cousin, Alex has now choreographed dances for 100+ couples. It's one of her favourite and most rewarding jobs. Check out her wedding page for more information.
